WHY IS THE FIRM NAMED CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL?

Christopher Street Financial takes its name from Christopher Street in New York City’s Greenwich Village, a place closely associated with the history of the LGBTQ+ rights movement.

The name reflects our origins and the vision of founder Robert Casaletto, who established the firm in 1981 to provide financial guidance to a community that was frequently underserved by traditional financial institutions.

Although our offices are located on Park Avenue South, the meaning behind our name remains an important part of who we are.

Founded in 1981, our firm approaches financial decisions in the context of each client's relationships, priorities, and long-term goals. We work with clients seeking an ongoing advisory relationship rather than an investment product alone. Our team can help coordinate investment decisions with retirement, estate and legacy, family, and other financial planning considerations. The right fit depends on your needs, the services you require, and the kind of relationship you want with an advisor.

Christopher Street Financial's advisory team includes professionals with different educational backgrounds, industry experience, and professional qualifications. Individual biographies identify the credentials and experience of the advisors who may work with you. The qualifications most relevant to your relationship will depend on the nature of the financial planning and investment services you need. We encourage prospective clients to review our team biographies and ask about an advisor's professional designations, experience, responsibilities, and approach to ongoing advice.

HOW DOES CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL INTEGRATE FINANCIAL PLANNING AND INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT?

Christopher Street Financial approaches investment management as part of a broader financial plan. We begin with a client's goals, financial resources, time horizon, risk tolerance, and ongoing responsibilities. The investment strategy is then considered alongside other planning priorities such as retirement income, estate intentions, charitable giving, and significant life changes. Because circumstances evolve, the advisory relationship includes revisiting decisions when new information or changing goals warrant it. The objective is a coordinated strategy, not a collection of disconnected investment and planning recommendations.

HOW OFTEN WILL I MEET WITH MY FINANCIAL ADVISOR, AND HOW FREQUENTLY IS MY FINANCIAL PLAN UPDATED?

The frequency of meetings and financial plan reviews depends on the scope of your relationship and the complexity of your circumstances. At the outset, our team explains the communication and review process that applies to your services. Regular reviews can address investment results, progress toward goals, cash flow needs, and changes in your family or professional life. You should also contact your advisor when a significant decision or life event requires attention. We aim to make the review process appropriate to your needs rather than impose an identical schedule on every client.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE INITIAL FINANCIAL PLANNING PROCESS?

An initial planning relationship begins with understanding your financial situation and what you want to accomplish. Our team discusses your goals, important relationships, existing assets and obligations, and any immediate decisions requiring attention. We then review relevant information, identify planning priorities, and discuss recommendations and next steps within the services being provided. The precise process varies with the complexity of the engagement and the information available. We explain the expected scope, timing, fees, and responsibilities before beginning a new advisory relationship.

CAN CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL HELP LGBTQ+ INDIVIDUALS AND COUPLES PLAN FOR RETIREMENT?

Yes. Christopher Street Financial incorporates retirement planning into its broader financial planning work with LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families. Planning may include savings goals, investment allocation, retirement income, Social Security considerations, health-related expenses, and the financial needs of a spouse, partner, or other loved ones. Legal relationships and beneficiary arrangements can affect how retirement resources ultimately support the people who matter to you. We consider these issues as part of the overall financial picture and work with tax or legal specialists where their advice is needed.

HOW DOES CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL HELP CLIENTS PLAN FOR HEALTHCARE EXPENSES AND LONG-TERM CARE?

Healthcare and long-term care costs can affect retirement security, family responsibilities, and the amount available for other goals. Christopher Street Financial can help clients consider these potential expenses within their financial plans, including projected spending, available assets, insurance options, and the financial consequences of different care arrangements. Planning may also involve discussions about who could assist with financial or healthcare decisions if circumstances change. We coordinate with insurance, legal, tax, and healthcare professionals when specialized advice or documentation is needed.

DOES CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL PROVIDE TAX-AWARE FINANCIAL PLANNING AND INVESTMENT STRATEGIES?

Tax considerations can influence the timing and structure of financial decisions. Christopher Street Financial considers relevant tax implications when evaluating investment choices, retirement distributions, charitable giving, and other planning strategies within the scope of its advisory services. We may work with your accountant or tax advisor to coordinate implementation and understand how a proposed decision fits into your broader situation. We do not replace personalized tax advice or tax return preparation provided by appropriately qualified professionals unless those services are separately and expressly arranged.

CAN CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL HELP CLIENTS DEVELOP CHARITABLE GIVING STRATEGIES, INCLUDING DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS?

Yes. Charitable giving can be incorporated into a comprehensive financial plan. Christopher Street Financial can help clients consider how the timing, amount, and form of gifts interact with investment, estate, and tax objectives. Depending on the client's needs and the options available, strategies may include direct gifts, gifts of appreciated assets, or a donor-advised fund. We help evaluate financial tradeoffs and coordinate with tax and legal advisors when appropriate. Any particular charitable vehicle is subject to its governing terms, eligibility rules, costs, and the client's circumstances.

CAN CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL HELP CLIENTS MANAGE STOCK OPTIONS AND OTHER EQUITY COMPENSATION?

Stock options, restricted stock, and other equity compensation can create decisions about taxes, diversification, liquidity, and investment risk. Where these arrangements are within the scope of a client's engagement, Christopher Street Financial can consider their potential effect on the broader financial plan, including concentrated holdings and upcoming cash needs. We may coordinate with tax and legal advisors on questions that require specialized analysis. Prospective clients with complex equity awards should ask our team which aspects of their particular compensation arrangements we can evaluate and support.

CAN CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL HELP FAMILIES PLAN FOR EDUCATION EXPENSES AND COLLEGE SAVINGS?

Education funding can be considered as part of a family's overall financial plan. Christopher Street Financial can help clients assess potential education costs, available savings, expected cash flow, and how education goals interact with retirement and other financial priorities. Depending on the circumstances, planning may include evaluating education savings accounts and investment choices. We also consider the value of keeping plans adaptable as a child's needs, family resources, and education options change.

HOW CAN CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL HELP CLIENTS PLAN FINANCIALLY FOR PARTNERS, CHILDREN, AND CHOSEN FAMILY?

Financial plans should reflect the people a client wants to support, whether those relationships involve a spouse, partner, children, relatives, or chosen family. Christopher Street Financial helps clients consider financial responsibilities, beneficiary designations, insurance needs, estate intentions, and longer-term support for loved ones within a comprehensive plan. For unmarried partners or chosen-family relationships, legal documents and account designations may be especially important to achieving the client's wishes. We coordinate with qualified attorneys and tax professionals when legal rights or tax treatment require specialized guidance.

HOW DOES CHRISTOPHER STREET FINANCIAL WORK WITH ATTORNEYS, ACCOUNTANTS, AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL ADVISORS?

Financial decisions can involve investment, tax, legal, insurance, and other professional considerations. With a client's permission, Christopher Street Financial may coordinate with attorneys, accountants, and other professional advisors to help align recommendations and implementation. This collaboration can be relevant to estate plans, significant transactions, charitable gifts, family formation, and retirement decisions. Each professional remains responsible for advice and services within their own engagement. Coordination is intended to reduce gaps and conflicting assumptions, not to replace specialized expertise.

CAN I ALIGN MY INVESTMENTS WITH MY PERSONAL VALUES, INCLUDING ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL, AND GOVERNANCE CONSIDERATIONS?

Investment preferences can include personal values as well as financial objectives. Christopher Street Financial can discuss how environmental, social, and governance considerations or other client preferences may be reflected in available investment approaches, subject to the client's goals, risk tolerance, time horizon, and account restrictions. Different strategies use different definitions and screening methods, so it is important to understand what an investment approach actually includes and the tradeoffs it may involve. Preferences do not eliminate investment risk or guarantee particular financial or social outcomes.
